William F. Sullivan

William F. Sullivan is considered to be one of the top criminal defense lawyers in Massachusetts. He has successfully represented clients throughout the country and obtained acquittals on charges ranging from First Degree Murder, Rape, Drug Trafficking, Child Sexual Abuse, Motor Vehicle Homicide and Drunk Driving.

In addition to his extensive criminal law experience, Mr. Sullivan has successfully tried numerous civil trials and arbitrations on plaintiffs' personal injury cases.

Mr. Sullivan is a past president of the Norfolk County and Quincy Bar Associations and remains a member of the Associations’ Board of Directors. He is a Lifetime Fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. In 2005, he was named the Norfolk Bar Association’s Man of the Year. In 2007 he was also named the Quincy Bar Association’s Man of the Year. He is a past member of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee and the Committee for Judicial Independence. He was named by the Governor as a Commissioner on the State Judicial Nominating Commission and served from 2003 to 2007.

Atty. Sullivan often lectures on criminal defense and trial practice throughout Massachusetts and is a contributing author on a number of books relating to criminal law.

Mr. Sullivan was born and raised in the Boston area, graduated from the University of Notre Dame and Boston College Law School. Mr. Sullivan is married with 3 sons and is a coach for youth soccer and baseball as well as active in various civic organizations such as the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Catholic Charities.

Attorney Richard J. Sweeney practices in District, Superior and Federal Court in criminal cases involving drugs, sex offenses, rape, robbery, trafficking, and other felonies as well as cases involving domestic violence, drunk driving, minors in possession of alcohol and other related matters. He also handles appeals of traffic citations and sex offender registry classifications at all levels He has successfully handled divorce cases, child support and DSS issues as well. Attorney Sweeney also assists many Boston attorneys who have business clients in need of assistance in family or other matters involving the police or courts. Finally Mr. Sweeney has used his negotiating talent to successfully handle mediations and arbitrations in both business and personal injury cases.

Richard Sweeney was born and raised in Boston. He graduated from Boston Latin School (‘76) and then went on to earn his degrees from Suffolk University and New England School of Law. Mr. Sweeney retired from the Boston Police as a Sergeant commanding one of Boston’s Drug Units. He spent many years working the streets and utilized this expertise to lecture Police Officers and Recruits at Police Academies and Colleges throughout the state, including Boston and surrounding towns, for over ten years. He was an instructor for the Mass. Criminal Justice Training Council in Criminal and Motor Vehicle laws, Warrants, Search and Seizures, Interrogations, Crime Scene and Evidence Collection as well as Drug Laws and Domestic Violence. He also lectured emergency room nurses and physicians on Domestic Violence, Sex Offenses and other related issues gaining a network of resources in police departments and hospitals throughout the state.

Attorney Sweeney is a member of the Quincy Bar Association and is on the Board of Governors of the Norfolk County Bar Association where he is the Judicial Liaison to the Norfolk County District Courts. He has also served as Co-Chair of the Membership Committee. He is an active member of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Massachusetts Association of Trial Attorneys. Richard is married with 2 children. A past member of Westwood’s Finance Commission he is still a hockey referee and has coached both youth hockey and baseball for over twenty years.

Joseph F. Killion (of counsel)

Joseph F. Killion graduated from Suffolk University and Suffolk University Law School. He is one of the most well respected attorneys practicing in Massachusetts at this time.

He was former counsel for Norfolk and Dedham Insurance Company, Peerless and Kemper Insurance Company. He was former Assistant District Attorney in Norfolk County where he was chief of the Southeastern Drug Task Force and chief of White Collar Crime Unit.
He has been lead counsel on many significant criminal and civil trials, and has been featured on HBO and other national media outlets for various cases.
He has developed an expertise in construction injury law and insurance coverage issues.

Sabrina Bonanno (Associate)

Attorney Sabrina Bonanno concentrates on family law, personal injury law and appellate practice as well as assisting in the firm's criminal cases. She received her Bachelors degree from Flagler College in Saint Augustine, Florida and went on to graduate from New England Law Boston Magna Cum Laude. During law school, Sabrina interned with the E.E.O.C. and was a member of the New England Law Review where she is a published author. She has been with Sullivan and Sweeney since she began as a law clerk in 2009. Sabrina has successfully handled many criminal cases in District Court. She is deeply involved with the firm's criminal cases and has sat as second chair in Murder cases. Sabrina's care and compassion for her clients has enabled her family law practice to flourish and she has been a welcome addition to the firm.
