Attorney William Sullivan represented a South Shore man charged with FIRST DEGREE MURDER after a lengthy MOTOR VEHICLE PURSUIT through Quincy and Boston. The chase ended when the car flipped over and the driver and the police exchanged shots. After a jury trial the man was found Not Guilty of FIRST DEGREE MURDER.

A jury found an alleged Brockton gang member Not Guilty of a FIRST DEGREE MURDER charge after attorneys William Sullivan and Richard Sweeney were able to locate a missing witness in NEW YORK CITY’S BRONX neighborhood. Through this witness they were able to prove that the client was not involved in the shooting. Police were able to find and convict the actual shooter in that murder.

A Greater Boston man cleared of allegations of CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT after a week long trial. Local man alleged to have committed a RAPE of a neighbor’s child was found not guilty of all charges after trial in Superior Court.

Sullivan and Sweeney obtain a SIX FIGURE MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT SETTLEMENT in a recent case. The insurance company initially offered zero but due to evidence developed by Sullivan and Sweeney an offer was dramatically increased with threat of trial.

Executive found Not Guilty on OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (OUI/DUI) charges. The case stemmed from a two car accident with injuries. Jury found the defendant Not Guilty on all charges after trial.

A top executive with a large Boston firm was cleared after it was alleged he was responsible for the THEFT or EMBEZZLEMENT of over 1.3 Million Dollars by the New York parent company in a WHITE COLLAR CRIME case. Despite the parent company sending its President, CFO and attorneys from New York attorney Richard Sweeney was able to prove that the problem was with the accounting system and not our client. The result was the dismissal of all charges against our client.

An executive with a Boston firm was found Not Guilty of a THIRD OFFENSE OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (OUI/DUI) charge after police found him asleep at an intersection. Attorney Richard Sweeney was able to show at trial that the police could not prove our client had operated the motor vehicle before he was found asleep.

Sullivan and Sweeney were able to gain a new trial for an individual previously convicted of a FOURTH OFFENSE DRUNK DRIVING. The charges were then DISMISSED and the defendant was released immediately from the County Jail as a result of the Motion for New Trial filed by Sullivan and Sweeney.

In a CIVIL LITIGATION case Richard J. Sweeney represented a local construction company in a WORKERS COMP CASE where an insurance company filed suit ultimately alleging that the construction company owed approximately $277,000 in back premiums. The construction company alleged that they only owed $50,000. We countersued and the case settled on the trial date in favor of our client for $53,000.

The FINANCIAL OFFICER of a Boston firm was accused of STEALING money from her company and was charged with 109 counts of LARCENY. After a lengthy jury trial she was found NOT GUILTY ON ALL 109 COUNTS.

A South Shore executive was found Not Guilty of OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (OUI/DUI) involving an ACCIDENT after leaving a NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS game. The accident occurred in front of two police officers who immediately arrested the man.

A NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY Student was charged with INDECENT ASSAULT AND BATTERY against a fellow student. After a lengthy discovery process the charges were DISMISSED in Roxbury District Court.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS from Canton and Westwood were arrested at a party for being MINORS IN POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL. Charged were DISMISSED before trial in Dedham District Court saving the students from a criminal record.

William Sullivan was interviewed regarding the new Massachusetts SOCIAL HOST LAW. Mr. Sullivan has recently successfully defended clients alleged to have allowed drinking at a house party where one of the minors died. He also obtained a dismissal of charges against a minor alleged to have been present at a party where a youth died from underage drinking.

A construction worker was found Not Guilty of DRUG CHARGES after police charged him with DISTRIBUTION OF CLASS B (COCAINE) AND POSSESSION OF HEROIN. Boston Police staked out a local lumber yard or weeks and then made numerous arrests. After Motions To Suppress were allowed a Judge found the defendant Not Guilty of all charges.

William Sullivan recently obtained a Not Guilty in a high profile DRUNK DRIVING CASE involving a school bus driver charged with being OPERATING UNDER THE INFLUENCE (OUI/DUI) while driving a school bus. Key to the acquittal was the EXCLUSION OF BREATH TEST RESULTS done in response to a Motion to Exclude on a variety of legal theories.

Attorney William F. Sullivan was a recipient of the Quincy Bar Association’s Man of the Year Award. Attorney Sullivan was honored at a reception at the Quincy Neighborhood Club. The Award was presented by Judge Linda Connolly, the Chief Justice of the Massachusetts District Courts. The award was given in recognition of Mr. Sullivan’s years of service to the Quincy Bar Association and the local community.

Richard J. Sweeney was named to the Governing Council of the Norfolk County Bar Association. This is Attorney Sweeney’s second term on the Board of Governors.

Richard J. Sweeney was named Chairman of the Norfolk County Bar Association’s District Court Bench Bar Committee. His duties include facilitating communication between District Court Judges and local attorneys, as well as setting up legal education seminars.

William F. Sullivan co-chaired the Norfolk County Bar Association’s legal education seminar on Criminal Law a View from the Bench. The seminar was held in the historic Sacco and Vanzetti courtroom in Norfolk Superior Court.

William F. Sullivan was recently honored at the Massachusetts State House for his efforts as a member of the Massachusetts Judicial Nominating Commission. The commission is charged with reviewing applicants for appointments as judges and clerk-magistrates to every court except the Supreme Judicial Court and the interviewing and selecting of candidates who are then recommended for nomination to the Governor.
