Office, News and Headlines• Attorney William F. Sullivan receives the Quincy Bar Association’s Man of the Year Award. Attorney Sullivan was honored at a reception at the Quincy Neighborhood Club and received the Quincy Bar Association’s Malaney Award for 2007. The Award was presented by Judge Linda Connolly, the Chief Justice of the Massachusetts District Courts. The award was given in recognition of Mr. Sullivan’s years of service to the Quincy Bar Association and the local community. • Sullivan and Sweeney were able to gain a new trial for an individual previously convicted of a fourth offense drunk driving. The charges were then dismissed and the defendant was released immediately from the County Jail as a result of the Motion for New Trial filed by Sullivan and Sweeney. • William F. Sullivan was a lecturer along with numerous Judges and other distinguished trial lawyers in the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education program, Challenging Evidentiary Issues 2007. • Richard J. Sweeney was named to the Governing Council of the Norfolk County Bar Association. This is Attorney Sweeney’s second term on the Board of Governors. • William F. Sullivan co-chaired the Norfolk County Bar Association’s legal education seminar on Criminal Law a View from the Bench 2007. The seminar was held in the historic Sacco and Vanzetti courtroom in Norfolk Superior Court. • Richard J. Sweeney was named chairman of the Norfolk County Bar Association’s District Court Bench Bar Committee. His duties include meeting with all Norfolk County District Court presiding justices and facilitate communication between the bar and the bench, as well as setting up District Court sponsored legal education seminars.
• William F. Sullivan was recently honored at the Massachusetts
State House for his efforts as a member of the Massachusetts Judicial
Nominating Commission. • Sullivan and Sweeney take pride in announcing that Jessica Foley has joined the office as an associate. Ms. Foley is a former Assistant District Attorney and has experience in both criminal defense, civil litigation and family law. • William Sullivan recently obtained an acquittal in a high profile Drunk Driving involving a school bus driver charged with being intoxicated while driving a school bus. Key to the acquittal was the exclusion of breath test results done in response to a Motion to Exclude on a variety of legal theories. |
